A payment can take up to 24 hours to post to your account. Seeing it as Processing rather than Complete straight away is normal.
Your payment counts from the day we receive it, not the day it finishes. A payment that shows as Processing overnight is still credited as of the day you made it. The date that matters is the one in the Date - Received column of your transaction history.

The three statuses

You can check at any time under Transactions.

Paying on the due date

You have until 11:59 PM Central on your due date. A payment made before then counts as made on that day, even if it takes until the following day to finish posting. AutoPay runs on your due date, every day of the year. If your due date falls on a Saturday, a Sunday or a holiday, your payment is still taken that day — not early, and not late. Your due date is also always between the 1st and the 28th of the month. Dates of the 29th, 30th and 31st are not used, because not every month has them — so your due date is the same date every month and never drifts.
If you are paying close to your due date, pay online rather than by mail. A mailed payment is credited when it arrives and is processed, not when you send it.
This is not the same as the deadline for stopping a payment. To cancel or change a payment you have already scheduled, you need to call us at least three business days ahead — see Making a one-time payment.

If a payment was credited on the wrong day, or to the wrong account

Tell us. We can review a payment and re-apply it as of the day you actually paid. When we correct a payment, we put you back where you would have been if it had been applied right the first time. That means:
  • The payment is credited as of the day you actually paid
  • Any interest charged in the meantime is reversed
  • Any late fee caused by the error is reversed
  • Any past-due status caused by the error is cleared
  • If the error was reported to the credit bureaus, that is corrected too
You do not have to ask for each of those separately, and you should not be left holding any part of the consequence. We will tell you when the correction is made. This is not something that normally needs doing — payments post on their own. But if you paid on time and your account says otherwise, it is fixable, and it is worth calling rather than accepting the later date.

Have the date you paid and your Transaction ID if you have the receipt.

If you are past due

A past-due amount is shown separately from your scheduled payment, and both are owed. Your statement adds them together into a single Minimum Payment Due — so if your regular payment is 109.06andyouareonepaymentbehind,theamountdueis109.06 and you are one payment behind, the amount due is 218.12, not $109.06. Paying the scheduled amount alone will leave you past due.

Grace periods and late fees

Late fees and grace periods vary by program — some accounts have a ten-day grace period, some fifteen, and some have no late fee at all. Yours are in your agreement, under Agreement Details.
Turn on the Late Fee Grace Period Ending alert and we will email you before a late fee is charged. See Alerts and paperless statements.
